The burden of disease increasing due to epidemiological trends, global warming and an ageing population is driving the cost of healthcare provision upwards. Technology offers part of the solution however the adoption and implementation of technology is also crucial component in the healthcare arena.

 

Regenerative medicine and stratified medicine are two areas that present opportunities to significantly influence the way healthcare is provided in the future. Regenerative medicine offers the prospects of reversing the effects of long term chronic diseases potentially providing cures. Stratified medicine offers the prospect of tailoring treatments for patients, maximising effectiveness of treatments and minimising side effects. Success in either area could have a major impact on the way healthcare is provided.
