Room D
The required broadband connection speed to your home is doubling every 21 months and internet traffic more than doubles every two years. This trend means that by 2020 we will need home connection speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second and beyond. This session considers the technical challenges and UK business opportunities in order to meet this need.
Attendees will receive an update on the progress of the Next Generation Optical Internet Access feasibility studies that commenced in the first half of 2009. Technology development and investment opportunities will also be considered in the context of the forthcoming PIANO+ competition which is scheduled to open at the end of 2009, with a total of up to 7.5m Euros available for UK organisations.
The session is aimed at organisations with an interest in faster broadband connections and the enabling technology required for Ultra Fast Next Generation Access, and organisations with an interest in the forthcoming PIANO+ competition.
A variety of speakers from the Photonics21 feasibility studies will provide an update on their progress and possible opportunities, with Oclaro already confirmed to speak.
